Screen damage is one of the most common phone repairs we see, but the price tag can swing pretty widely depending on the device and how bad the damage actually is. Here’s what drives the cost, and how to make sure you’re not overpaying.
Damage ranges from a single hairline crack that doesn’t affect use, to a shattered but still-functional display, to a screen with dead pixels or dead spots where touch stops responding after an impact. The type of damage matters as much as how bad it looks — a spiderwebbed screen that still responds perfectly to touch is often a cheaper fix than a screen with unresponsive zones.
Some repairs only need the outer glass replaced, while others require the full display assembly, including the LCD or OLED panel underneath. On most modern phones the glass is fused directly to the display, so a cracked screen usually means replacing the whole assembly — this is the single biggest factor in what a repair costs.
Device model, screen technology (OLED costs more than LCD), part quality, and whether other components like the front camera, earpiece speaker, or Face ID sensor were affected all factor into the final price. A cracked iPhone screen repair and a cracked Samsung display repair can land at very different price points even for similarly-sized cracks.
OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts cost more but match the original specifications exactly, including color accuracy and touch sensitivity. Quality aftermarket parts offer a lower-cost option that still performs well for most everyday users, though we’ll always tell you upfront which option makes sense for your device and how you use it.
