Dropping off your phone for repair only takes a few minutes, but a little prep beforehand protects your data and gets your device back to you faster. Here’s what we recommend to every customer who walks into one of our Fresno locations.
Even routine repairs like a screen or battery swap carry some risk to your data. Back up photos, contacts, and messages to iCloud, Google, or a computer before you come in, especially if the repair involves opening the phone near the logic board — it only takes a few minutes and it’s the single best thing you can do to protect yourself.
Take out your SIM card and any external accessories if you’re comfortable doing so, or let us know if you’d like us to remove them for you. It’s one less thing to worry about losing track of during the repair, and it keeps your service uninterrupted if you’re using a loaner or backup phone in the meantime.
This is the one most people forget, and it’s the most important. If Find My iPhone (or Find My Device on Android) or Activation Lock is still on, we may not legally be able to complete certain repairs or verify the device is yours. Disable it in Settings before you arrive — it takes 30 seconds and can save you a second trip.
If your phone has multiple issues (a cracked screen and a fading battery, for example), mention all of them up front. We can often diagnose and quote everything in the same visit instead of you having to come back a second time once the first issue is already fixed.
If you’re coming in for a charging port, battery, or power issue, bringing your own cable and charger helps us test against what you’re already using at home, which speeds up the diagnosis and rules out whether the problem is actually your accessories rather than the phone itself.
